The girls are victorious!

In a true underdog style Cardea Ladies beat all the odds and won their first ever cup final. They ran out 1-0 winners against the higher opponents St Ives Town Ladies.

All the preparations seemed to have gone well, the girls arrived in good spirits and was really up for the game. As the game was beginning to start you could see the Cardea nerves were slowly fading. They got off to the perfect start within 50 seconds of the game with captain Laura Rudd “looping” a shot over the keeper from a good distance putting the girls 1-0 up.

This was how the game finished and at times we really did have to hold our nerve and ride our luck but the girls dug deep and got the result they all deserved. We couldn’t be prouder of you girls for the preparation, fight, passion and determination you all showed, that was a true team effort.

Supporters voted for the Cardea player of the match which went to goalkeeper Poppy Halstead who made some outstanding saves.

We would firstly like to thank our Mascots, you all played a huge part in the day and did us proud. We would also like to thank all our supporters, an attendance of 183 mostly all Cardea fans. You were the 12th man and helped cheer them over the line.

We would also like to add a few more thank you’s to our sponsors Apex Scaffolding, Moor farm, Elite motors, John Henry Group and our cup final sponsor Point of sale vans who also provided us with our first ever kit. You have all contributed so much to making sure the girls look the part on their path to success.

Next up is an away game to Cambridge Rangers at 11am.
